Business Culture in Japan and the World

Hello guys! Today I will be talking about business culture. The Japanese business culture is being on time to work everyday and if the boss wants to grab a drink after work, well then you join! Without talking about work culture I will try to compare the Japanese culture to Swedish. Here in Japan, its quite common for co-workers to go out and have drinks after work. This is something I like since I feel its great for boosting morale and team spirit. However doing it to often would be to much. In class we discussed how ofter we want to go out and have drinks with our co-workers. I put once a month, however... you should only go out if you have exceeded expectations in regard to goals put up by the boss. I see no point going out for drinks if we didnt for example sell a single product. I wonder if Japanese companies think the same or they just go out for any reason. The Swedish business culture varies alot between different line of work. For example, real estate agents go out and dr...

Masculine and Feminine Cultures in the World

Hello guys, Today I will be talking about masculine and feminine cultures in the world. So, during class I learned that Sweden is a very feminine country. If you ask me if I like Sweden being a feminine culture I would answer... I dont know. It may be because of my lack of understanding of the origin of the phrase. However, I do enjoy the Swedish culture very much. When it comes to for example what jobs people apply for and so on, of course it will be different between the genders. Even Sweden being a "feminine" country will see obvious differences in what genders works different jobs. I would like to add that ive had three different jobs and twice ive had a women as a boss. For me its not wierd to have a women as a boss but I dont know if its the same in other cultures. When it comes to the rest of the world. Talking openly about what a man should do and a women should do is much more common. This I feel like can have an negative effect on the person hearing the discussion ...

Parenting in Japan and the World

Hello guys, In todays blogg I will compare Japanese parenting to Swedish. Unfortunately I missed the class when the topic was discussed so i will solely base my assumptions on the video material. When it comes to parenting in Japan I feel like parents are more caring compared to Sweden. For example when parents share bed with their kids for such a long time. Because of the Japanese amae I feel like parents can be overly caring of their children in their younger years.  According to japanconsult.com the Japanese maternity leave is 98 days. This is not so much compared to Swedens 480 days which is split between the two parents. For this reason I believe Swedish parents doesnt need to be overly caring of their kids since they have such a long time to spend time and care for their kids, in comparison to Japanese parents who may need to stress the caring situation before they need to go back and focus on their work. I also think the long maternity leave in Sweden is the reason tha...
