Education in Japan & the world

 Hello guys,


Welcome back to yet another blog post by myself, William Ludwigs. Today I will talk about education in Japan and compare it to rest of the world. During class we discussed a lot about japanese educational system and mayor differences it has with other countries. What was most surprising to me was the cram schools and the big numbers of students that goes to cram schools. This phenomenon is something Ive never heard about and something that doesnt exist in Sweden. For me the concept is wierd since because of the big amount of students taking it, you kinda have to take it or else your results will be worse then the rest. Even if you are of normal intelligence you have to study extra after school. I would probably hate going to cram schools since im not a big fan of studying all day...


Furthermore I feel like the Japanese school system put a lot of pressure on kids and isnt suitable for everyone. On the other side, I feel Japanese people as a group is a highly educated one with a lot of competence compared to other countries.

Political Culture in Japan and the World

 Hello guys, Today I will be talking about everyones favorite subject, politics. When it comes to how Japan is being ruled ive come to understand they have multiple parties however there is only one that always is in power, the Liberal Democratic Party. When it comes to comparing it to Sweden I would say there are several similarities. In Sweden we also have multiple parties. However the rulling party is often the biggest on the right or left block. In Sweden an election is held every 4th year and in my humble opinion the rulling block changes quite often. This can effect the country negatively since I feel no major changes can be made in a 4 year period as compared to the Japanese politics where the rulling party can make plans for many years ahead.  Sweden also shares other similarities with Japan. The biggest one being the similarity with the royal family in Sweden and the Emperor of Japan. Both are a symbolic head of state and have no real power. Fun fact by the way is tha...

Work in Japan & Sweden

 Hello! Welcome to another blog post by myself, William Ludwigs. Today I will discussing the differences in work culture in Japan compared to my home country, Sweden.  Work culture in Japan is well known around the world. With the Japanese people working so hard its not uncommon to see people sleeping in trains and in public. Compared to Sweden, the event of people sleeping in public is unheard of. Furthermore I sense the harsh working environment for the Japanese people come from decades of traditions that highly values the sense of worshiping people with power. In regards to work it would be the boss and the company. Ive come to understand that the boss has the final word in the decision making and working long hours because of the bosses wishes is common practice. In Sweden, the bosses position in the group is more of a guidance roll. The boss cant force a worker to stay overtime unpaid. Masculine and Feminine Cultures in the World

 Hello guys, Today I will be talking about masculine and feminine cultures in the world. So, during class I learned that Sweden is a very feminine country. If you ask me if I like Sweden being a feminine culture I would answer... I dont know. It may be because of my lack of understanding of the origin of the phrase. However, I do enjoy the Swedish culture very much. When it comes to for example what jobs people apply for and so on, of course it will be different between the genders. Even Sweden being a "feminine" country will see obvious differences in what genders works different jobs. I would like to add that ive had three different jobs and twice ive had a women as a boss. For me its not wierd to have a women as a boss but I dont know if its the same in other cultures. When it comes to the rest of the world. Talking openly about what a man should do and a women should do is much more common. This I feel like can have an negative effect on the person hearing the discussion ...
